2009 Season - Updated 11/08/2009
We are now finished with the scheduled races for the season at Riverhead. After a disappointing rain-out on the opening weekend, we were hit by other vehicles in features #2 and #3 enough to ruin the alignment on the car each time. Tough breaks. Fortunately, we finished both times, and damages were repaired. We came back on May 30th, and took a third place finish! On Sunday, June 14th, we posted a 4th place. On June 27, we took the trip up to Bethel. After leading in the feature for the first 9 laps, we were passed by some of the top-rated Bethel regulars and finished the 25 lap race in 5th position. Not bad for our first time there! On July 11, we took a top 10 finish at Riverhead. Good racing, no cautions. After the feature, we did an "appearance" of sorts outside the pit gate. It was a lot of fun to let all the kids climb in the car and maybe spark their interest in racing Legends in the future. On July 25th, we were fortunate to place ninth after a race plauged with crashes. After the feature, we again brought the car outside for a "meet & greet" so the kids could check out a Legends car. On August 9th, after the race was called for time limit after 14 laps, there was a lot of confusion between racers and officials as to the correct finishing order. We wound up with a 6th place finish. We traveled to Bethel Motor Speedway on August 15th for "LegendStock 2009" Unfortunately, the trailing arm tab broke in our heat race, and with no welder, we were done! Disappointing, but fortunately this did not affect our RR points standings. On August 22, back at Riverhead Raceway with the car repaired, we took a second place finish!! At this point we were in 3rd place in the points race. The August 29 show was rained out. The September 6 show was canceled and then rescheduled for September 12. This was to be a Time Trial show with $2000.00 collected from lap sponsorships. This final show was a rain out, and not re-scheduled. We have finished the Riverhead Raceway season in third place!! We had hoped to get some more racing in at Bethel Motor Speedway and also at Sundance Vacation Speedway (Mountain) as the schedule allowed. However, raindates and minor health issues got in the way. Overall we had a good season in 2009. The car is in good shape, and we will be looking for sponsors for the 2010 season, so please feel free to email us if interested in joining the Glenn Maningo Motorsports team.
